Dan Kramer’s Atari Engineering Notebook 1980-1982 This is a scan of Dan Kramer’s Atari engineering notebook. It contains his notes from October 2 1980 through February 11 1982. Lovingly scanned by Kay Savetz on September 13, 2021. The original was returned to Dan. Dan Kramer worked at Atari from 1980 to 1984 in the consumer engineering group where he created products for Atari home computers and home video games. In an email to me on 13 Feb 2019, Gregg Squires (Manager of Hardware Engineering at Atari from February 1982 – December 1984) wrote: Attached is a handout prepared for a high-level meeting with C Level Execs and Managers of various departments. Atari at that time saw itself as a computer company, not just a game company, and we were all very proud of the development of the XL Series Home Computers. I was very proud of this product because of all the work I did. I relished the design of the...

Getting More Out Of Your Atari, an article by Chris Crawford and Lane Winner, probably written while both were employed by Atari.  The two authors were both collaborators on De Re Atari. This appears to be an early draft (probably written in 1980) of the article "An Introduction to Atari Graphics" published in the January 1981 issue of Byte .  Kevin Chase blogged about the program from that article .

Harry Stewart told me: "Here is the outline for an internal presentation of the Atari 1200 to ???   The first two pages are the outline of the entire presentation, and the following pages contain the material that I presented.  From the looks of the material the audience must have been technical, rather than management.  The presenters were Paul Laughton, Scott Scheiman, and myself."

Advantages of using the microcomputer as an interactive electronic blackboard are discussed, and programs and programming techniques are described to illustrate the construction, design, storage, and modification of colorful and animated graphic displays. The methods described are based on use of an Atari 800 microcomputer but could be used on other systems. Suggestions are made for the use of display lists, short programs dedicated to the video display, which specify where to find screen data...

These pictures of Atari 8-Bit hardware were included on the Atari POOLDISK 1.0 CD-ROM and are in the public domain. They were on the CD-ROM in .PCX format, dated 1995, and converted to .PNG by Kevin Savetz in 2015. The resolution is pretty low, I suppose due to the nature of digital cameras in 1995. I am also uploading the original .PCX files in a .ZIP, though I'm not sure why you'd need them. The description in the pictures directory says: "In this directory, you see our collection of...
